How do I know my female is ready to breed?

The Dam will need to be brought to JKKJ Farms during her estrus cycle when the eggs are being released from the ovaries. This phase starts approximately 9 days after the proestrus cycle. During this phase progesterone levels start rising and she will accept her mate. Once you start seeing blood drops on the floor and her vulva swelling up, count roughly 7-10 days and that should be the start of the breeding window.

The said Dam will need to remain with the Sire on the farm for 3-5 days. During this time JKKJ Farms will provide clean housing, food, water, exercise, assist with breeding if needed, document breeding, and any emergency vet care needed.

How do I know my dog is bred?

The normal gestation period in dogs is approximately 63 days from date of conception, although this can vary by several days. Pregnancy can be confirmed by your Vet via:
•pregnancy test >30 days
•ultrasound 25-35 days
•physical exam/palpitations 21-35 days
•X-ray 42-55 days

If the Vet confirms that said Dam is NOT pregnant, then she can return to the farm during her next heat cycle for rebreeding at no additional cost to the Dam’s owner. If this is the case a written/typed note from the Vet and their information must be presented to JKKJ Farms.

Does my Dam need to have brucellosis testing to use a JKKJ Farms stud?

All Females must have Brucellosis testing and genetic health testing done prior to breeding unless they have never been bred. Brucellosis testing may be waved by JKKJ Farms if Dam appears to be in good health and shows no signs of STD’s.

Stud Fee:

The fee for stud services is $2000. On occasion, pick of the litter may be substituted for stud fee if the Dam has a clear genetic health panel and is agreed-upon by Dam and Sire's owner.

Terms of Conditions

SECTION 1 - LITTER REGISTRATION

- Breeder will sign registration documents for litter registration if applicable. Owner of Dam understands that it is illegal to sell the offspring as registered if the Sire and Dam are not of the same registry.

SECTION 2 - RESTUD SERVICE

- Breeder will provide a return stud service to the same female listed in this agreement if the mating fails to produce a viable pregnancy. A viable pregnancy is defined as the birth of two live puppies.

SECTION 3 - NOTIFY OF FAILURE TO CONCEIVE

-If the dam fails to conceive via live coverage and or artificial insemination, the owner will need to provide the breeder with documentation from their Veterinarian within 70 days from the date of this contract for a return stud service on the next heat cycle of the dam listed in this contract.

SECTION 4 - STUD AVAILABILITY

- When return stud service is granted to the dam owner, the Breeder must provide another stud if the stud in this contract is unavailable.

SECTION 5 - STUD FEE PAYMENT

-The stud fee must be paid in full before an attempt for tie/mating is allowed. If for any reason the stud fails to tie the female and the option to collect and manually insert the sperm is not utilized, the Breeder will give the stud fee monies back when Dam is picked up. The Dam owner understands if AI has to be used that they are responsible for paying for the Veterinary Evaluation, Progesterone Testing, Collection, and Insemination prior to Veterinary Visit. 

SECTION 6 - DUAL SIRE

- The dam owner will not allow the dam to be bred by another male other than the one listed in this contract. Failure to do so will render this contract void. If dam is bred by another male DNA testing must be obtained from offspring to confirm parentage.

SECTION 7 - CARE OF PUPPY/PUPPIES

-The dam owner will not allow any puppies as a result of this mating to be sold to retail puppy stores, taken to a shelter, and or dumped.

SECTION 8 - LIABILITY WAIVER

- The dam owner releases the Breeder and company and its owners/representatives from any and all liability associated with but not limited to the breeding of the dam. This includes any accident or injury to the dam herself or any persons or animals accompanying the dam for the breeding. Dam owner waives any accident liability to the dam even after leaving the premises where the stud is located.

SECTION 9 - PRE/POST BREEDING REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITY

-The Dam owner is responsible for the financial costs associated with the following:  Breed Specific Genetic testing. Color Coat testing. Brucellosis testing. As well as breed specific OFAs and or PennHIP evaluations if applicable. Breeding carriers and or affected dogs to other carriers and or affected dogs is prohibited. 

SECTION 9 B - AGREEMENT TO STUDS GENETIC RESULTS

The Dam Owner is responsible for checking the health testing results provided on our website under the parents page, and agrees upon stud selection that have read and understand all genetic results. The Dam Owner understands and agrees to that some of JKKJ Farms, LLC Studs may be carriers for Genetic traits not complementary for health or for color when mated with the Dam listed in this agreement.

SECTION 10 - REGISTRATION TYPE

- JKKJ Farms, LLC Sires are Dual registered via AKC and ASDR.

SECTION 11 - DEFINITION OF A LITTER

- Two live puppies born constitutes a litter and fulfills the burden of a litter as constituted in this contract.

SECTION 12 - BURDEN OF EVIDENCE

- The stud owner / the Breeder may ask for veterinary evidence that the dam did indeed fail to become pregnant on a prior breeding, the burden of cost will lie with the dam owner to pay for vet tests such as an ultrasound, or x ray. Burden of delivery of dam to the veterinary clinic will be by the dam owner.

SECTION 13 - AGREEMENT TO TERMS

- The dam owner/representative signs this contract and agrees to all the terms laid out in sections 1-13. Dam owner/representative understands that no other agreements are meant or implied.
